Fees & Rebates

Medicare Rebates (Mental Health Treatment Plan)

Under the Better Access Initiative, eligible clients can receive Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year when referred by a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).

  • Rebate: $96 per session (paid back to you on the day of appointment).
  • Psychologist’s fee: $260

Clients must attend a GP review after six sessions to access additional sessions (up to the annual limit of 10).

Private Health Insurance Rebates

If you have private health insurance with extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate on psychology sessions. The rebate amount varies depending on:

  • Your health fund provider.
  • Your level of extras cover.

Private health insurance cannot be used in conjunction with a Medicare rebate for the same session. Clients must choose whether to claim via Medicare (if eligible) or their private health fund.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

For individuals with a psychosocial disability, therapy may be funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) if psychological support is included in their plan.

NDIS participants must have funding allocated under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living to cover psychological therapy.

Clients may be self-managed, plan-managed, or agency-managed.

Fees are subject to the NDIS Price Guide (updated annually).

WorkCover & MAC

Psychological services may be covered for individuals with work-related mental health concerns or those injured in transport accidents:

  • Covers psychological treatment for work-related injuries.
  • Requires a referral from a GP and approval from the insurer.

May cover therapy costs for mental health issues following a transport accident.

Requires approval from a GP and approval from the insurer or MAC (Motor Accident Compensation).

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Many workplaces offer confidential, employer-funded counselling through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

  • Free to employees and sometimes their family members.
  • Focused on work-related stress, personal challenges, and mental well-being.
  • Arranged directly through the employer or an external EAP provider.
